In March of 2009 I began a conversation with David Kool in regards to some type of
affiliation with the Reformed Church in America. At first I was somewhat apprehensive, but after meeting Sherwin Weener and several months of dialogue in regards to our beliefs and the theology of the RCA and it’s beliefs my wife and I decided for our church of 20 years Antioch Christian Center to begin the process of affiliation.
Antioch Christian Center was founded by my wife of 36 years and I in 1990 in our living room with six people. Being sent out from a ministry in Chicago, Illinois, we were considered an outreach, but didn’t receive much training in regards to administration and church growth. Being trained in administration is one of the important aspects we have received from the RCA to this point.
One of the requirements to be recognized as an RCA pastor is to complete the Commissioned Pastor Program. Enrolling in Western Theological Seminary is the next step in the Commissioned Pastor Program and being recognized by the RCA. Some of the benefits in the process are developing new skills and understandings that will enhance my ability to serve Antioch to the glory of God.
